Likewise, I can virtually guarantee Dad didn't decide that pedos were part of the fall of Rome until the pedo scare got into full swing somewhere in the 80's and 90's.

Knowing my father and how he tends to retrofit his ideology to whatever random whim tickles his fancy, I would definitely consider that to be a great possibility. Also, as he gets older, it seems that he is more and more willing to compromise logical debate in exchange for baseless opinions. I have noticed that about a lot of people as they get older, and I can only hope I dont fall victim to the same disintegration of intellect when I reach his age.
