The reason Rome failed was due to the perversion of their society; too many fags and pedophiles running the streets.

That made me laugh, because I had a kooky old teacher back in high school who had a PhD and had been kicked out of teaching at various colleges for his rhetoric, eventually relegated to the "lowly" position of high school teacher. He even reminded "us punks" of this. That was the 1980's, and the things he said then would definitely get him fired even from that job today. I remember he was still ranting about the Communists, had a fetish for the Masons, talked of how he pretended to be one even though he wasn't, and while the pedo paranoia hadn't made it into the collective mainstream neurosis yet, his favorite topic was "the homos" and how they singlehandedly destroyed Athens and Rome. LOL.. and yet I can't help but love the little prick even today. He definitely believed in what he was spouting, misguided as it was, and no matter how much it made his career suffer. I doubt he's even still alive today, but if he is, I am sure he's incorporated "the pedos" into his theory by now.

Likewise, I can virtually guarantee Dad didn't decide that pedos were part of the fall of Rome until the pedo scare got into full swing somewhere in the 80's and 90's. Funny how things which become scapegoated for the current times suddenly become the reasons for troubles of ancient history as well. Correct me if I am wrong, but before the pedo hysteria, the sexual debauchery blamed for these ancient collapses by some was placed squarely on the shoulders of homosexuals who had been fighting for rights and fighting for AIDS awareness.
