...is one of the fundamental aspects of learning for young children. They will continue to do something (anything) well beyond the point where most adults would be bored out of their minds. But they are toddlers, and they are exploring and learning and testing and trying out things. To the toddler mind, just because a door swings in a certain way one time, or ten times, or twenty times, does not mean it will swing that way the twenty-first time. They will sometimes keep at a task or action until they are totally convinced in their minds as to how something works or functions or reacts.

As a parent of several children, I can tell you that playing with and interacting with toddlers one-on-one can be very interesting, and can give you much insight into how the young human brain works.
