Quoted simply for truth.
As for the rest of your post, I've wondered about these things too. It's true, though, that there are some jobs out there that the average child simply cannot do. My job, for example, involves a good bit of picking up boxes and carrying them around. Boxes that often weigh sixty or more pounds, heavier than the average eight-year-old girl's body weight, I should say. (Some of the adult men I work with even whine about having to lift them.) But I'll admit, the average eight-year-old could easily handle other parts of my job.
But this is a size advantage, something that is naturally so and we shouldn't hold it against anyone. :)
But you mention CEOs, world leaders, not blue collar folks like me. (And on a larger scale than what I'm thinking, btw.) These are important roles to fill and most people would scoff at the idea of children filling them, but I think children are more capable here- logic, ideas, communication- than in the physical area. (Let's face it- we all know some children who are more intelligent than some adults we know.)
And here is the scale I'm thinking on- I've known children who are very creative with computer graphics and adults who make a decent living designing uninspired websites. I know one girl, third grade, who is constantly pointing out mistakes in the local paper, mistakes which passed by the editor's eye. And children are incapable?
Children are grossly underestimated. And a lot of it is a tendency to confuse because of her age with inexperience.
