In defense of this board

I can't speak for everyone, but I come to this board for reasons much more profound than reading a set of tittilating, attention-getting GM's. GM's are fine, and they can put a smile on my our faces, but I much prefer all of the intelligent commentary on the subject of GL as it affects my life, the debates concerning certain topics so that I can decide which side to an issue that I take (some of the best debates I have ever read on any number of topics have taken place here), to give support to members who need it, to seek support myself when I need it from people who are in a unique position to understand what it's like to live as a GLer in this society, to read all of the different concerns of GLer's from a political, philosophical, and sociological standpoint, to discuss issues related to social activism, etc. The GM's are the least of my reasons for coming here, because as nice as GM's can be, they are the posts which most often cross the lines for good taste and provide fodder for the antis to use against us.

I am NOT saying I am against GM's, as I post a few of my own here and there, but I greatly disagree that they are the best thing about this forum. I prefer to see the intelligent commentary and discussion of the issues that affect us.
