Hi Diss
sorry I missed you in chat tonight earlier.

I used to get very excited about GMs, posting and reading. But these days I too want to deal with issues. As you know, or perhaps may recall, my interest in LGs is primarily aesthetic. hearing about others feelings for LGs, their trials and woes, or joys affects me very little. In fact I find it rather tiring. I mean no offense as i know that for the people sharing and the people who enjoy reading these encounters it may mean a great deal to them. It used to mean a lot to me and i did my fair share of GM posting even "off color" encounters as I was threatened by Puzzled with being banned once. I used to really enjoy reading Furbs posts. He generally wrote with just the right balance of pathos and humor. But times have changed. And I understand how these kind of posts today are generally counter productive.

These days I want something of substance. Issues one can sink their teeth into. Rhetoric that may possibly change peoples view of what it means to be a LGL or AGL. For instance, in general, do young children really want to have sex play with adults? Or the ethical issue of "contact" versus "non contact" This is meaty stuff requiring some hard thought. Personally I have gone back and forth on this issue many times.

Now we are confronted with the Possibilty of the elimination of Child Modeling sites which has the potential of negatively impacting many of our lifes . Speaking for myself here, not only could it reduce my aesthetic pleasure but it also erode more of my "Freedom." My freedom to enjoy the beauty of youth captured in photo or film to be enjoyed over and over again. This is not a "seedy" pleasure, for "beauty is a path to the divine" as the philosopher said. And as you have often said "once a Freedom is taken away it is not likely to ever return" or words to that effect.

I remember when one could order through the mail nudist magazines featuring the beauty of children and young teens. These were just naked nudist kids. Hardly CP! Does anyone think we will live to see the day when the "freedom" to purchase and enjoy magazines of this particular artistic genre will be given back to us. I hardy think so.

Also there is the issue: if images do not exactly meet the guidelines of what constitutes CP the "pitch fork crowd" (tm LGL) they may still be able to nail ones ass by calling non pornographic images obscene or exploitive. What is the difference between pornography and obscenity or exploitive for all practical puposes? That is an issue i would like to see hammered out on this board.
Over the years I have concluded that many serious issues brought forward on this board don't seem to have any ultimate answer> This may frustrate some people. Sometimes important issues are often taken up and then just dropped .
If an answer is not found we may nevertheless become better educated on an important issue by seeking an answer, or if can find to no ultimate answer, then perhaps a clearer understanding.

So anyway Dissident I am with you in this regard. The bandwidth for this site should be primarily devoted to addressing issues of consequence, those things that impact us all as MAAs. I am not opposed to personal sharing of ones experience with LGs but lets be careful not to become to "syrupy sweet" when life and death issues are hanging in the balance. Day to day our brothers are becoming "prison statistics". This is the reality.
And much of this has to do with the status of images.

B
