Her tiny hand ( a GM )

I'm at work, at the cash registers, when a 4 year old LG pops a $20 bill on the counter and says, "I want this."

The family was in the general vicinity. They were Farsi if my guess is correct; and there was an older girl as well.

But when little Nikki placed the bill on the counter I was briefly baffled. Had she found someone else's money? Was she wandering with some of her mother's money?

But her father indicated from across the room that she'd have to lift the item she wanted to purchase over the counter with her money.

Suddenly it clicked. She was practicing her "big girl" skills by going up to make a purchase without her parents doing it for her.

Her black hair was pulled back in two braids. And her big brown eyes looked up at mine.

So I rang her purchase and gave her the change. Her hands were so small that the bills looked huge in them. And it looked as if she might drop the coins, so I folded her tiny hand over them.

She almost walked back without taking the item, but I caught her attention. And she finished the transaction with confidence.

( Note: I'm not a touchy-feely guy with strangers. And I keep a professional and appropriate boundary at all times with customers. But she did need some assistance so she wouldn't lose her change :)

Earlier in the day, I helped two sisters of Italian descent. The older was an 11 year old cutie. She had dark brown hair, olive skin, and a bit of a snub-nose. Its sometimes hard to tell the age with shorter girls. But I'm pretty certain she was 11 from what she was looking for and from her pretty face.

And while she wasn't at all disproportionate, she was more of a Tanner stage 4 for breast development. Her tight yellow T-shirt kind of drew my eyes to the fact. But once I was assisting her it was her sweet voice and brown eyes that had my attention.

She thanked me for my diligent search on her behalf.
