I'm with Diss, Trillion, and Catcher 100% that we gotta stay optimistic about the future.

However, Luka makes the point that one's own soul can rot from getting too mired down in the vicious cycle of thinking/feeling: "I am a GLer, therefore everyone hates me, the world is wrong and I'm right, but I can't change it, so I'll get more mad, but now everyone hates me more..." or something along those lines. The chair can't stand on a single leg. In fact, it usually won't stand on two legs. People need multiple sources of inspiration, multiple facets by which they define themselves, to stay healthy and positive for at least most of the time.

Being free can also be thought of, in the chair metaphor, as standing on no legs whatsoever. You just float there. I can't do it yet, but I've read about that sort of thing... I think it's the state of Enlightenment that Buddhists try to achieve.
