I really don't see the difference.

And yes, I would agree in principle that most males can't really be entrusted with that part of raising a female (AND vice versa); and the same with different racial or ethnic communities. However it is one thing to recognize that relatively few people think outside their groups and another to make it some sort of immutable Law of Nature with no exceptions and therefore justifying segregation. (Because it IS segregation - ever read contemporary apologists for gender-segregated schools? Doesn't get much better)
