Yes, but evolution would develop survival mechanisms both in parents and children.
Children can be scared and shy of unknown and dangerous things as well. But since the adults have a stake at their children´s safety and are better informed about their environment, they have instincts to teach their children. Both to protect the children from dangers which the children are ignorant of and therefore unable to fear, as well as to teach them not to fear things which in the experience of parents are safe.
