Also, I think over-protectiveness goes hand in hand with over-controlling, dominating, authoritarian parenting.
Traditionalist Mormons, traditionalist Muslims, traditionalist Hindus, traditionalist Eastern Jews, all have quite the hierarchical parental institutions AND early marriage.
As usual, post-19th Western Christianity is the exception, not the rule.
