Why don't you prove me wrong then? Studys do show this is beneficial so the animal can fatten up. Usually in nature, this over-abundance of food isn't availible, so when there is an opportunity to store extra energy, it is taken.

Humans are a prime example, and have you ever had pets? Rats and Dogs both love to over-eat until they are sick.

This translates to: Humans don't always do as we think they should, or as would be logical. No point in arguing the finer points.
