Granted. I don't mean to demean a university education. It is very important that a substantial percentage of the population get a university education, in fact. However, it is not the end-all and be-all of life preparation, and believing it to be so will result in a great number of problems for both society and the individuals involved - especially in the present situation in the U.S., where the costs have become astronomical and the benefits minimal for a substantial number of students.

And, of course, a university education can broaden a person's mind - but I've also seen many graduates who remain close-minded.
