Yes, rich countries seldom have child beggars.

Others have noted the many problems with giving money to child beggars in poor countries - although it may temporarily help one child, encouraging this begging is often detrimental to many children for a long time.

On the other hand, in some countries child vendors will sell their products in town squares or at roadsides. Most of these are boys who aren't selling anything I want, but it's amazing how many little girl vendors sell exactly what I need. I still have the packet of chewing gum I bought from three little girls in ****** - you never know when you might need to chew a piece of gum!
