My point is that too many people here, including people who are not Christian, keep repeating this like it is factually established rather than saying, 'I believe this is the case' or 'some scholars believe this is the case.'

So we cannot discuss the content of religions that are not our own, but with strong disclaimers??

Where do you draw the line anyway?? Should only Dissident talk about Marxism??

The Bible says "almah". That is a fact

Isaiah 7:14

לָ֠כֵן יִתֵּ֨ן אֲדֹנָ֥י ה֛וּא לָכֶ֖ם אֹ֑ות הִנֵּ֣ה הָעַלְמָ֗ה הָרָה֙ וְיֹלֶ֣דֶת בֵּ֔ן וְקָרָ֥את שְׁמֹ֖ו עִמָּ֥נוּ אֵֽל

with הָעַלְמָ֗ה being the word in question.

Whether you (or whoever exposed it, Seamus in this case, but it could be any of GC's Atheists or Agnostics, not just GC's Christians) believe it is a prophesy of something that happened, or just literature, whether fictional, allegoric or wishful, doesn't change the words there.
