I've stated on the board numerous times before that the term feminism has been hijacked from its original meaning and used abusively by other ideologies who do not adhere to the original meaning of the word at all, but use it as an attempted stamp of legitimacy for their own very different ideology (much as is the case with the word "socialist" and the related term "communist"--not to mention "pedophile").

Many people do distinguish between the two, and they should, since deliberately failing to do so is not being entirely intellectually honest.

The original feminists, who simply stood for female equal rights and empowerment, have often been referred to as "equality feminists" (or sometimes as "gender feminists"). Those who espouse a twisted matriarchal version of fascism, along with extreme hatred towards male heterosexuality--and who did a lot to help get hatred against MAAs rolling back in the late 1970s--are often referred to as "victim feminists" (or sometimes, perhaps less accurately, as "radical feminists") since they pretty much created the very unscientific doctrine of victimology, which is based on vindictiveness, revenge, and stereotyping rather than civil rights and justice for all with a strong opposition to the concept of inequality in general.

Kudos to you, girl!
