Feminism

Okay, this is random but I keep reading about people talking about how the feminist movement is the reason people hate pedophiles and it's the movement that's spurred the antis etc. Or some other jab at feminists for w/e reason.

I just wanted to compare the original feminism with the original idea of pedophilia. When society thinks of a pedophile they will automatically throw in 'child rapist/molester' 'pervert' 'sicko' etc. When really pedophilia or a pedophile in it's true definition is a sexual orientation of people who are interested in not adults.

When someone talks about feminism or a feminist what do you automatically think about? Something along the lines of 'repressive man-hating bitch' I assume? The original meaning of a feminist or feminism was the idea that women deserve equal rights. Women were being (and depending where they live still are) repressed, treated like property, objects, slaves. There was a feminist movement that wanted equality for women in these situations. There is still sexism but obviously (in the countries where equal rights have been obtained) not to the same degree or severity as it was before. Since then (and I'm no history buff so tell me if I'm wrong) there are individuals who have morphed feminism into some horrible man-hating thing, along with all these other goals or other stupid ideas in the 'name' of feminism. Therefore a bunch of people start saying all women are the reason this or that happened, or the reason men or pedophiles were repressed etc.

There are plenty of women who fit the original definition of a feminist who do not consider themselves a feminist due to the negative connatations that have been added to it. Just like there are members of this board who may not like being called a pedophile and instead prefer 'childlover' or something like that because they do not agree with the new definition of pedophile even though they fit the criteria of pedophile. There are also lots of other examples of things being done in the 'name' of something (such as horrible things done in the name of a religion or religious idol) that have nothing to do with it. It's just some jerk using an idea to fit their own needs.

The reason I am putting this up here is because some of us are born with vaginas. Others are born with penis's. Hell some people are born with BOTH, some start out with vaginas and it grows into a penis (weird things happen). That is the difference between a man and a woman. One has a vagina, the other has a penis (must I say which has which??). I am tired of the generalizations, we are mature beings, can we not understand that not everything needs to be lumped together? Not everything needs to be categorized. If every woman you've ever met is a bitch than of course I encourage you to be cautious of the next woman you meet, but hold onto the understanding that all women are not the same or have the same ideas or conclusions as other women. Just like it is with men. If every person you've met who's wearing all red beats the shit out of you then obviously you should be cautious of the next person you see wearing red but that does not automatically mean that every person wearing red is going to beat the shit out of you. I don't know WHY those other people wearing red hurt you but maybe I like to wear red, that doesn't mean I'm going to hurt you also. Same goes for people who have vaginas/penis's.

Please respect everyone. Whatever their race/religion/sex. They just happened to be born with these characteristics (well not the religion but you get my point...). I did not choose to be born the colour or sex that I am, and neither did you. Please do not lump me in with all the other people who also happened to be born with the same characteristics as me. I will try to do the same for you and I will judge you on your words and actions, not the fact that you happen to have a penis/vagina or happened to have a parent who was a certain colour/ethnicity or that you happened to be born in a certain location.

The original idea of feminism has been warped and I personally think people should not call the manhating wackjobs that do things in 'the name of feminism' feminists. It takes away from the real feminists who simply wanted equal rights for women. Find a new name for them, categorize them a different way. Please do not lump all women into one category, half the population (abouts) is female, they are all individuals.

I'm sure I'll get a bunch of flack or w/e but I needed to put it out there.

Girls are sexy. Just wanted to put in something everyone on this board can agree on :)
