In all honestly, if we used teleiophile for both younger people with a preference for significantly older adults who are not necessarily elderly, and adults who are attracted to other adults in the same general age group, then we might as well say that all children who are attracted to other children are pedophiles, and all adolescents with a preference for other adolescents are hebephiles. There would be a large amount of confusion if we used the same term in entirely different contexts like that.
