When I was in daycare or teaching....

.... I was "bound" by similar laws as well.

However I pick and choose the laws I follow based on logic and reason based on if the result will help or harm someone, including myself. Laws have a way of not really caring how they help/harm people but making sure to keep the ones in power happy.

Had I met a child who seemed happy and outgoing and joyful... but had told me a secret game he/she played with some adult. I would be bound by sanity not to report it because of the turmoil it would throw his/her life into.

Note that nothing like that ever happened.
