Just in case you haven't seen this already. It explains my position in detail:

All we know for sure, is that this was a homicide. So far, it seems to be being treated as a justifiable homicide, rightly or wrongly. IMHO, this was a case of manslaughter, not murder. At worst, it was 2nd degree murder, not premeditated, or 1st degree murder. But it looks like manslaughter to me.

I strongly support our right as nonviolent MAPS to live our lives freely from governmental/societal interference. I also support treating even violent offenders humanely and ensuring they receive a fair trial and punishment within the legal system. I strongly believe that children should have the right to say YES as well as NO to romantic/sexual relationships with their peers or with older people.

However, I understand human behavior. The good, the bad, and the ugly. IMHO, this was a very bad and ugly situation for all involved. The true victim and the person who has the lion's share of my sympathies is the 4 year old girl involved. Let us not lose sight of that no matter what.

I believe the situation here helps explain why there was a homicide, although it certainly doesn't excuse it. I think that the man was justifiably defending his daughter initially, but then continued to attack the attacker after he was no longer a threat. Predator turned to prey, so to speak.

I think these things not because I was brainwashed by the mainstream media. I seriously question the mainstream media as a whole, not just on these issues. I highly dislike the pseudo liberal, sensationalist, exploitative, biased mainstream media. I'd likely feel that way even if I were not a girl lover. The fact that I am only makes me distrust it more, because I've especially seen how distortive and destructive they can be.

However, I do have a gut feeling about what happened here which may deviate from the common opinion here. I don't want to be at odds with people over this, we'll just have to respectfully disagree. When it comes to our issues in general, I am strongly pro choice, pro freedom, pro civil liberties for our community. You can count on that.
