Now, this IS me theorizing... I think he and the Progressives expect that he will lose this year, and knew when they passed the legislation that it would be unpopular. They set up the tax increases to occur under a Republican watch so as to be able to blame them for it. I think (and hope) that Americans are not stupid enough to fall for that "blame" when it comes.

Obama expects to win, and he has a good chance to win. Most polls have him as the favorite. You seriously think he would throw the election just to pass some "socialist" shit and then "blame" the Republicans for it?
