I'll have to research those two terms before I can agree or disagree. I am not familiar with them as common political terms.

One more consideration... when Obama was speaking in March of 2007 to the Service Employees International Union health care forum, he directly told them (my paraphrase), My commitment is to make sure that we've got universal health care for all Americans by the end of my first term as president. I would hope that we can set up a system that allows those who can go through their employer to access a federal system or a state pool of some sort. But I don't think we're gonna be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There's going to be potentially some transition process. I can envision a decade out or 15 years out or 20 years out." (This is easily researchable, I happened to go to the evil Rush L's site for it).

So when I say he lies through his teeth, it is not 100% of the time... he was honest in that talk, at least. Meanwhile, to sell the bill, he and his cronies told the public "You can keep your current insurance and doctor." Yeah. Until your employer forces you to do otherwise. The entire legislation is set up to accomplish that goal over time... AND... it is set up so that many of the "tax" increases occur in 2014.

Now, this IS me theorizing... I think he and the Progressives expect that he will lose this year, and knew when they passed the legislation that it would be unpopular. They set up the tax increases to occur under a Republican watch so as to be able to blame them for it. I think (and hope) that Americans are not stupid enough to fall for that "blame" when it comes.

To back up the statement that I think the Dems knew it would be unpopular... remember Nancy P's famous statement (paraphrased) "We have to PASS the bill to find out what's IN it." She KNEW that if the American People were given time to ananlyze the bill that it would never pass. So the Dem's rushed it through in one of the poorest showings of politics imaginable.

For the record, I don't care for either of the major parties. I am mainly libertarian, but on a few social issues I fall in with the conservatives (abortion, for instance).
