Many people who have never suffered abuse, sexual or otherwise, also have psychological and emotional problems. Like you say often, people are complex; and this is also true for emotional problems. If there is no recollection of abuse, sexual or otherwise, it's more likely that the problems have another origin than that there is a hidden cause. I know it is comforting to many sufferers to hear that previous abuse is the origin of their problems, because it unconditionally and completely removes any blame from themselves, but that it's a comfortable story doesn't make it true, and doesn't grant to make it a default assumption. It might grant people close to them to lie to them, if that seems to be better overall, but it doesn't grant to build whole institutions based on that lie.
