"As for giving oral sex to your wife being considered the crime of "Sodomy," I always thought that appellation exclusively covered anal sex. Shouldn't the crime be termed "Cunnilingy" or something similar? I can't believe lawmakers are less creative than that!"

"Sodomy" is derived from "Sodom", a city in a story in the Old Testament that rejected God and engaged in a great number of "sexual sins". In the story, Sodom was destroyed by fire and brimstone.

Although sodomy is colloquially used to refer to anal sex, legal definitions frequently include oral sex as well - and sometimes includes other sorts of sexual behavior geared towards recreation rather than procreation. It depends on the jurisdiction.

"And why, exactly, are so many people on this board spelling "God" this way lately: 'Ghod.' Is that an intentional misspelling designed to bring attention to the fact that they are expressing a degree of contempt or distortion of the concept, such as the deliberate spelling of the word "liberal" as "librul"? "

I think this spelling is generally used to indicate that the speaker is speaking hypothetically, and does not actually believe in the deity being spoken about.
