As I see it there is such a disparity in abilities, personalities, circumstances and cultural background apart from how children are raised as to make the issue of consent not amenable to anything other than what occurs at the moment - a presumed protection for all children affected by those particular laws.

Then it could be dealt with as we do in contract law.

I fear many will not see it that way. Kids apparently have raped younger kids and viewing porn has been seen as one of the contributing factors.

You will probably differ, but I think this is a consequence of kids being prevented to witness sex in real life, both by the culture trying to hide it; and by the logistics that modern housing gives an unprecedented level of privacy to the parents when they have sex. But ultimately I agree with the diagnosis.

You are right that Europe is converging to American positions, and Lyrics is right that it is American pressures that have caused this.
