Note, the Shia also believe that religion is more "God will now leave his faithful rudderless to interpret for their own." Deists think this. But the Abrahamic faiths understand God as interacting with man through time. And many feel that this interaction didn't end with the canonization of their scripture. That He left a Viceregent as it were.

Perhaps Martin Luther's "read it for yourself" version proved a little to free-wheeling and without authority. I can only surmise that this might be a factor in the appeal of Pentecostal appointments with the Holy Ghost; to understand that what comes from within comes from an authority.
