Points for trying? I suppose... It doesn't really please us, and doesn't particularly favor us, but at least it's moving in the right direction. I guess?

I do think that is a truth, if you only consider pedophiles when they are young and struggling with accepting their pedophilia. When I was younger, I would describe myself that way. Just as anyone wishes to control their personality to better fit into the accepted norms of whatever part of society they are in. If pedophilia was the norm, then we would likely hear stories of teleiophiles who just "want to control their desires." For many, it takes much work to find acceptance of their desires. Until then, it is easy to reject them and long to be rid of them. While there are no statistics given, I would think it a fair assumption to assume that most pedophiles do go through stages where they are like Adam. It also helps acceptance when you find others who accept you, such as boards like this.

We are creatures to be pitied, according to this. As time goes on, we will likely see more of this. A pseudo-acceptance. Instead of being monsters to be feared, we will be monsters to be pitied. We simply cannot help how hideous we are. Until our desires are no longer seen as monstrous, we will always be monsters of a sort. And our desires will always remain monstrous, so long as society's views of children and sex remain constant.

Maybe this really is the path to true acceptance, though. With fear of us dissipating, it may be easier for us to prove our desires to not be monstrous. I don't know.
