I think the therapists reaction highlights many of the problems in the mental health field with regards to minor attraction and young minor attracted people.

I was surprised that she felt so sure that it would be a good idea to definitely tell his Mother right away, it seems from what was described.

Luckily his Mothers reaction wasn't too bad and she still loves and cares about him, but such a thing could easily turn out bad. I don't think it would always definitely be ok to tell the parents like that. Especially without knowing more about their relationship and what the parents views and perceptions on minor attraction are.

Actually with any subject a therapist probably shouldn't jump right into telling the parents what's going on, but especially with this topic with so much widespread ignorance and hostility.

I do feel bad for Adam not being able to accept himself like that. It's sad that he worries about having kids. If he's worried about self control then I he should look out for that, but I mean.... regular heterosexual Fathers who have grown up daughters manage to not be attracted to them or if they are, respect the boundaries.
