Incentive to lie

At the risk of drawing Ethan's ire....

He has held that because GC prohibits the advocacy of lawbreaking ( in one's jurisdiction at present ) that we cannot know how many posters are NOT law abiding.

He then presumes that its a large number even of those here arguing to the contrary.

But that is neither here nor there.

One could easily speculate about the numbers at a forum which no longer exists because it was taken down for criminal advocacy. How many might declare otherwise untruthfully even if allowed to admit crimes or advocate crime? No matter what the rules of a forum, they would still be committing a crime and external pressures would create the same atmosphere.

So the only place where a site's rules create an incentive to conceal an opinion in order to post is when non-criminal free speech is banned ( as it is at VirPed. )

And as ever, logic demands that we cannot know what we cannot know. Nor can we derive "most posters here" types of numbers from an unfalsifiable and unverifiable premise.

But indeed, one is prevented by GC rules from advocating that others break the laws they presently live under. Though that's really a very big "so-what" for anyone interested in maintaining a free-forum for discussing what the law ought to be ANYWHERE. ( And as Ethan's posters are allowed here, and so many of our posters are prohibited there; then the same debate under the same legal conditions MUST occur at GC. )

Therefore such futile speculation is only of interest to someone who wishes to defame others without citation and poison the free debate where it is allowed.
