Erin Pizzey, founder of one of the first shelters for battered women, quickly discovered that many of the women were just as violent as their abusers - or more so. When she surveyed these women, she found that 62% were what she called violence-prone, which she described as something like an addiction to violence.

For some people, feelings of self-righteousness or rage can be just as emotionally satisfying as feelings of love or contentment in others - and naturally they seek to repeat the experiences that made them feel good before. This may make use of the same mechanisms involved in positive reinforcement and addiction.

Before anyone tries to get too close to Pizzey, she has expressed very negative views about pedophiles - though I'm not sure she really understands what pedophilia is.
