In most instances, it's acts that would normally be associated with a good parent. Being kind, compassionate, caring, and willing to talk to the child. It's basically being a parent with less emphasis on the discipline aspects of parenthood. It's only grooming, though, if a sexual aspect is involved, acted upon or otherwise. In fact, just being a pedophile and performing the acts automatically makes it grooming and an indication that rape will happen.
