My exasperation with your allegations may have shown up occasionally in a few previous threads. But I think it has been quite incidental and muted, and occupies a tiny fraction of the column-inches occupied by your armchair analysis about me as a person, including calling me a liar. I think these analyses hold up based on a concise viewing of your posting patterns and statements over the time we have been exchanging. And the many tactics you use are readily recognizable. Some of these tactics cannot be done within complete honesty. Here's what's actually going on: Few people argue against your position, so it seems possible that many people believe it. I think it's wrong, so I'd like to make sure GC readers are exposed to an alternate view. So I've made a few posts against it in the past couple days. That motivation seems simple, straightforward and honorable. It looks much more like a desperate crusade to provide what you incongruously refer to as "alternatives," Ethan. Please keep in mind, once again, that no one on this board "lives" here 24/7. All of them cannot help but hear or read mainstream opinions that go against my views in most ways on the relevant topics almost every place they look, in any given medium. It's actually impossible for anyone in our society not to have heard these mainstream positions ad nauseum over the past 35 years, and almost always without any challenge allowed. So describing these mainstream opinions to youth lib, Marxism, the pro-choice stance, my opinion that Titanic wasn't such a great movie after all, etc., as "alternative" opinions is frankly ridiculous and more than just a bit disingenuous. Many of the stances I adhere to are alternative opinions within the framework of greater society itself, and everyone else on this board who lives in the same world is well aware of that. It all comes across as a zealous, emotionalistic bid to discredit me for the reasons I stated, especially since many here are familiar with the tactics you use, as they are not limited to anit-choicers and mainstream liberal "centrists" alone. Again, I ask everyone here to carefully evaluate what both of us have had to say on this matter, look at all the available evidence, compare each to their own experiences, and then come to an objective conclusion.
Then you read your own posts as selectively as you read everyone else's. Honestly, Ethan. Nothing about you or your motivations. I address only your position that calls for radical change, and nothing specific to Marxism. Like I said, any position that asks for any type of change that is considered radical or revolutionary. And as the only Marxist of note here right now, it's easier to focus on the Marxist than the several anarch-capitalists/liberatrians or the comparatively quiet anarchists. I then urge readers to make up their own minds. Let's see you accept them as having done that if you don't succeed in making a mass conversion here when the mainstream view of society itself hasn't succeeded in doing so. I don't think you can convince anyone on GC with an actual mind and an actual life beyond these cyber-walls that your views and ideas are "alternative." But I wish you luck nevertheless. |
