"Take the community with me or just go it alone."

Ah, that explains the anger over diversity within "the community."

GC, is, of course, an open forum. It is hardly a single community.

And, as much as you may dislike the VirPs, they have proven that if you want to start something others aren't doing yet, your best bet is to just do it and see who joins rather than spending time trying to wrestle over scraps.

Its not a zero-sum game.

For various reasons, which have recently been cited, GC has shrunk.

Much of it is the growth of other venues better suited to discussing starlets, or most other activities.

They didn't wait for consensus, or argued that everyone must accompany them somewhere else. They didn't spend time trying to wrestle the existing resources to promote their goals; they just went ahead and did what they wanted to do.

Its not a zero-sum game.

GC is smaller. But some here are also at VOA. Some here are contributors at Newgon. Some are at B4UACT. And others are doing work unknown to you.

VP ought to teach you something. That if you don't see many takers here for what you are proposing, then maybe it isn't in your interest trying to use those who are here as your seed community.

VP has been largely unsuccessful in poaching members of GC and B4UACT. But it has been very successful in creating its own community.

We may have common causes. But so long as you see as toxic to "the community" things I see as essential to the struggle; such as fighting publicly for the word I use to explain myself to others in my private life, then we are talking about different "communities."

I am at GC because I support and believe in what it was when I found it. It is smaller, but it is still doing much the same thing. I wouldn't have it any other way. And if I truly felt that my energy would be better spent doing something that GC wasn't doing, I would be doing that thing instead; not trying to persuade GCers that I should be allowed to turn GC into something other than an open forum for diverse people united by GL, but sometimes by little else.

As the mods have had to remind folks throughout the years, "We are not an activist forum."

"And yes, I have credential, as I built something online out of nothing to mainstream media recognition, fuelled by passion.... and then came my 'fall'."

Care to remind me of what it was and what it accomplished?
