Explain to me how Putin is not a Hitler-esque strongman again?
I mean, he hasn't done any major genocide yet or have the cult of personality, but other than that. He assassinates or arrests every political opponent or critical journalist, is actively centralizing power into secret police forces, and engages in wars not unlike Hitler's earliest ones to unify what he feels is the homeland. Going into the whole psychology thing, Hitler was in many ways driven by his experiences during the end of WW1 in the army, feeling the leaders at the time betrayed the country to its enemies, and sought to reclaim the past glory of Germany. Putin seems driven by his experiences in the KGB during the end of the Cold War, feeling the leaders at the time betrayed the country to its enemies, and is seeking to reclaim the past glory of the Soviet Union. |
