No, I do not believe the parents should make the choice. I believe the girl should.

Opening up the opportunity for another type of wrong doesn't negate a previous type of potential wrong. It simply adds a greater range of bad possibilities.

Well antis act in this way. As if banning marriage (and, in other countries, prostitution, and in yet other countries, KP) suddenly makes a girl's life perfect and wholly void of abuse.

The reality is that girls for whom those things are a product or symptom of abuse live in abusive settings beyond those things and which those prohibitions won't ameliorate. And girls for whom those things are not abusive are more abused by the system criminalizing them than by the actions themselves.



I'm also surprised more than a little about the new developments on your thoughts. Because if you didn't mention the word "marriage" I'd have to make sure I wasn't reading myself on circumcision. :)
