Easy for someone who fits and therefore supports most of those norms to say. Otherwise, the U.S. comes off as pretty strongly stigmatizing.

It's easy to say if, again, you are not heavily penalized for the norms you happen to violate. And I am not simply talking about the pedophilia/hebephile thing.

Such as?

For every example you can give me where the US is bad, I'm sure I can find other places which are worse in the same respect.

No, this isn't to say that you shouldn't complain because "you're so lucky to be in the US". It's just a reminder that the glass is always greener. Your own personal divergences with how American society and culture deal with some things which are dear to you cloud your sight and prevent you from seeing how the US is, even in those things, not always as bad as you feel it to be.

And let us not forget how the U.S. is the absolute ringleader of the pedo hysteria, and the world leader of youth rights oppression.

No. For pedo hysteria, it's either Airstrip One or the UN. The US follows them. Probably Australia is also ahead of the US.

For youth rights, show me one US example and I'll show you worse abroad. Yes, the US record is pretty bad. But it is definitely not the worst, and on every subset of youth rights you could find places which are decidedly worse. (Except maybe on sex... but even on sex, most AOC violations are never enforced...)

Since you're so used to see the bad, you can't see that there is room, and often a lot of room, for worse.

So, it was not okay to clarify it for the many individuals who are either not familiar with those cultures, or the many who believe the absolute worst about them (again, note my friend Lensman over at Consenting Humans).

No.

I'm truly sorry, but I've learned better than to put so much intellectualism into GC posts. I could spend 3 days researching to find good links for everything; but why?, if nobody reads them anyway (not like, nobody, but people continue to reply after very obviously not reading them). I could lengthen every post two or three times its original length to flesh out every piece of an argument and nuances that I can see; but why?, if the people I most often truly contradict (the Vichy crowd) just fallacy their way out anyway.

If you mistrust me so much you think I'm defending actual rape, well, go ahead then. It will hurt me, but I can live. Same for everyone else.

But since I never said "oh forcing girls to have sex against their will is awesome", allow me then to point out that it is others who are putting those words in my posts.

And in the end... In the age of information, ignorance is a choice. And much more so if you read and speak the English language.

Now if you're just somewhat unfamiliar, it is no sin to be ignorant -- and ask! If you care so much that it changes your interpretation of the post, certainly, go and ask! But don't assume.

On other issues, other posts, and other statements, this is what we would criticize of Vichy. Their assumptions about the Pro Contact camp.

And if you already think the worst, too bad. I'd like to stop Islamophobia, but it is beyond the scope of GC, and beyond all the more so of the scope of a post which is not even about the merits and defects of Muslim values and cultures per se, but about allowing younger girls to enter a legally recognized contract to marry a guy. I believe that pedos who shun traditional religion are wrong, on several counts. I believe that one day it will be evident that traditional religion is a very big ally; and those who shun it still will have to go Vichy. But it doesn't hurt me if you call Muhammad "the pedo prophet" or if you call me (or any Muslim) a Kebab. I'm beyond name calling. I'll fight Islamophobia, and Christophobia, and every attack on traditional religion; but it isn't my every waking thought, and especially not on GC. If you think the worst, too bad. Now again, how can anyone ask Vichy and antis not to think the worst too? For that matter, how can anyone ask the guy reading kebabnet.com not to think the worst of us Franks?

Also, what if Lensman actually ends up seeing this? Things will go nuclear

Oh well, one Kebab country has nukes too. I guess I'll have to call Islamabad...
