The only problem I can see with your explaining things is that you are probably going to come up against two things:

Panic

Stubbornness

Very few people can think in the realms you are thinking in. You will be very lucky if you two can connect intelligently.

But, R: I know you. As long as someone actually listens to you, and isn't packed full of obliterating and illogical, non-sequitur hatred, you are going to succeed in what you are trying to get conveyed.
