Well, sorry it hasn't gone better. Happy it hasn't gone worse. Hope it improves soon.

The phone? Yes, if it doesn't belong to you, you should send it back. Maybe wait just long enough for her parents to cool down a bit. Give it to whichever parent is more likely to actually give it back to her.
