And yet...

Wherever I hear that honor and pride are passé, I think of situations like this. Letting ourselves lose sight of our dignity leads us to give away our own humanity. There aren't enough side benefits which compensate the losses of allowing ourselves to be objectified.

As Franklin (disputed) put it, Those who sacrifice liberty for temporary security, deserve neither and lose both.

Yes, this is not for everyone, and maybe nor should it.

But sometimes, someone has to take the hard decisions.
Hopefully so that someone later doesn't have to.
