To me it was just a matter of loyalty and faith, funny that it transpired days after professing to my father how I would place more trust in a ten-year-old who knows essentially everything there is to know about me and expressed her emotional fidelity even subliminally as opposed to a deceitful group of adults who saw only "me" at every turn.
I'll happily go to trial if that's what this comes to! What I want is a little faith in humanity, not blind faith in institutions and a desire to protect me from them. I can weather a storm more easily than a knife in the back when I least expect it. And a little loyalty. Unconditional trust from a ten-year-old is worth the candle if it's fair and square. Meanwhile, they missed the reality for the symbols and in doing so disgraced both myself and - much more importantly - her. When the chips fell, I had fewer allies than I thought, but the exact same number of ones who mattered. ~ RBL |
