Welcome to adulthood! You may have heard the expression, "No good deed goes unpunished." Well, it's things like this that it refers to.

You did the right thing, the only ethical thing, and of course you and the girl you love are being punished for it.

But it was still the right thing to do, and in the long term I believe it will prove itself to have been the right thing to do. It is possible to lose every battle and still win the war.
