With these revelations, it makes me think that you may have done right by your lgf more than you knew. It may be that in the long term it was not a romantic relationship with you that she needed at all, but simply a friend who would take her side. If it turns out that she is no longer interested in romance with you, please take it in stride and let her know that you love her and care for her as a friend without regard to whether she wants romance.
