No, he was about as good a husband as he was a stepfather.

In fact, they never married because of long-standing issues between them, mostly a product of his controlling and generally poor behaviour. She wasn't happy with him and others, male and female alike, could see why.

Maybe his SO was a bit better equipped to deal with him and a bit less powerless against him.

Did you have a point or were you just fishing for details?
