In yesterday's and today's societies, there are many different schools of thought and actions that just do not make any scientific sense. The Nazi movement, the White Supremacy movement, Heaven's Gate, Flat Earth, Khmer Rouge, Jihads, Crusades, and the list goes on.
I was watching a WWII movie the other day, where the U.S. was assaulting Guadalcanal. The story covered the different views that the individual soldiers had of their experiences. You felt a close bond with how those soldiers felt: hatred, fear, apprehension, honour, dishonour, excitement, and boredom. After the U.S. soldiers finished over-running a Japanese position, there were lots of POWs. Intense hatred and fear pervaded the scenes from the surviving Americans. And, there too, you could see the same thing ... you could feel the same thing... in the Japanese POW's. Oakowi, the things you point out in your post falls in line with the insanity of what I have here pointed out. It is what it is. I accept that the world is this way, make sure it does not cross paths with me, and stay the way I am in relation to it all. That's all we can do. To stop a war? To stop idiots from driving drunk? To stop the school/shopping mall shooters? Can't be done. |
