Sadly, autism isn't very well understood by your average "expert".

I was serious when I said I was autistic.

Autism, in my view, results from a difference in developmental trajectory (genetic) juxtaposed with a dysphoric social environment (condition).

Very basically, "autistic" brains are gifted with a different set of strengths (and weaknesses) from those who fall into the category of "relatively normal", and thus require a different style of nurturing in order to capitalize on those strengths. In a different society organized to contend with a different set of environmental conditions, those who are considered autistic by today's standards might appear much less unique, while those who are considered "normal" by today's standards would experience the social dysphoria which leads to autism.

Some autistic people are "saved" by accommodating support systems which try to best replicate the social environments they need. In other words, an autistic person can through the use of various coping devices still find a way to prosper in a society they are very much on the periphery of. To the average onlooker, we seem like geniuses one day and we seem developmentally disabled the next, depending on what's going on inside our heads, what's going on around us, and how well we have developed in a particular area given that the bulk of society's institutions just don't work well in conjunction with our genetic strengths (since these institutions aren't designed with our "type" in mind.)

Let me play the piano for you in a silent room and I'll take you to Narnia. But ask me to fill out some paperwork or send me into a supermarket alone and it'll take about 10 times as long as you think it should based on what's "normal". (Not to mention about that much more exhausting to me.)

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to flirting with women. However, I can give a little girl precisely what she wants when she wants it, pretty much just by intuition.

It's not as simple as autistic men are pedophiles. Not even close.

But, if your goal is to understand pedophilia and you already correctly understand autism, I think you don't have very far to go.
