They are mostly mental cases

If you happen to be a heterosexual man who is unattractive, you will be in for a lot of heartache and emotional tribulations, which is most definitely a form of oppression.

Having preferences is not oppression. There are standards of beauty, both for men and women, that people generally find the most attractive. A man with a nice muscular body and good face symmetry is generally going to be looked at as more attractive and sexually desirable than a man who is short and overweight. Is that oppression? No. That's just life and nothing is ever going to change that. The argument you are making seems to be the one many feminists make which is that our idea of beauty is largely shaped by the media and culture alone. I strongly disagree with that. A short balding overweight man is never going to be seen as attractive as a tall, muscular young buck no matter what. It's not society's fault, it's nature.

But the good news is that there are plenty of exceptions and ways to find mates even if you're not the most handsome man in the world. Ditto for women. Of course if you have a really shitty personality and are your own worst enemy, as many in the incel community are, then things will definitely become more difficult. If you look at somebody like Elliot Rodger it's pretty obvious to me that his main problem wasn't his looks. It was his psychotic and narcissistic personality. You can look at it in retrospect and clearly see why someone who viciously murdered his own roommates and dreamed of killing his younger brother might have had a difficult time finding dates.

And while I understand that not every incel is like Elliot Rodger, I do think that the majority of them are their own worst enemies. Even if prostitution was legalized throughout the entire world, I think many of them would still struggle because it wouldn't solve their underlining mental problems.

Although I definitely agree that destigmatizing and legalizing sex work would be a very positive thing that could potentially help some incels, but definitely not all.
