It was not hard to understand for a Scandinavian, if you read it to the end, where you met a prostitute, and if you paid attention to the title. In the first time I did not read it to the end, paid no attention to the end of the title, and I vaguely, absent-mindedly wondered if "making one's bed" had other, idiomatic meanings that I don't know.
Why didn't I read it to the end? I have said here many, many times that I almost never read anyone's message to the end, if it is longer than a few lines -- and sometimes I don't even read those short messages. It is not your fault, it is not my fault, it is not anybody's fault; it is fatigue, the long time I have spent on the internet. I got my first internet connection about 23 years ago, so it's no wonder that now I just skim and skip messages without reading them in their entirety, no matter whose messages they are. And reading English is a little slower for me than reading my own language. I must concentrate a little harder. Still, in some few occasions, I have waded through even Dissident's long messages -- when the quarrel has been interesting enough. Yes, quarrel. Yes, no matter whose messages they are. And it's the same with general news articles: I see the title, then open the article and read a few lines so that I understand what it is about, then close the page. GC and VoA - if someone told that pedophilic activity is now allowed in their country, I would certainly read his/her message to the end. But I cannot expect anything new on these boards, it is basically always the same. So I am sorry for not reading your message to the end at the first time. But it happens with everyone's messages. :) |
