It's very American to claim young people are not able to comprehend things well enough to consent to sex, but are nevertheless capable of comprehending the gravity of their own illegal acts, and therefore subject to being tried as an adult. I've never been able to comprehend how both realities can exist at the same time.

Perhaps Ethan can shed some light on this for me.
