The laws we have now do not respect the wants or needs of children, but the laws they had then do not seem to have really respected the wants or needs of children either. It seems it is just two different sets of impositions.

Possibly what we have now, as bad as it is, is slightly better.

What we should working towards is a law that takes children's wants and needs into account, and gives them priority.
