Existing as an ego for more years does not mean you're smarter.

It does not mean you're wiser.

It does not mean you're better.

Of course. You are right. Stupid people usually don't know they are stupid.

Several days ago, we were driving on the (three lane) highway. The driver, taking us down the highway in the right lane, was zoned out and not watching things. I, in the right seat, was. I saw the pickup truck in the far left lane brake and after a few seconds, begin a right turn towards the approaching exit ramp. "Traffic left!" Our driver slammed on the brakes and fortunately the anti-lock brakes worked as designed. The pickup truck cut inches in front of our nose and struck the collapsible impact barrier at the highway exit, spraying metal and plastic parts all over creation.

Our driver began to pull over just past the exit. I laughed and said, "Don't stop. We didn't touch so we don't legally have to stop."

"They certainly hurt or dead."

"One driver, no passengers. If he is hurt, maybe, just maybe, he'll learn a lesson. If he's dead, I'm very happy for him. And everyone else."

Three stupid people that day. Let's count them.

The pickup driver. Stupid. Two reasons: (1) trying such a poor maneuver and, (2), not making it.

Our driver. Stupid. Not expecting nor seeing the pickup hit his brakes for no reason... near an exit.

And the third?

Me. I had no idea what the law is regarding witnessing a collision. Still don't. Stupid.

I completely understand your frustration towards a television fiction. I know it's the people behind the story that are demonstrating their social stupidity that gets your ire. I agree with you up to the point that it frustrates you. But it is your frustration that prompts me to post.

Forrest Gump once said, "Stupid is as stupid does." Semantically null. But it does serve to illustrate a point. It is what it is, RBL. Yelling at me (us) about them does nothing except make you feel good. I hurt because I know you are feeling hurt. So I am trying to help you out of your unnecessary hurt.

It's okay to recognize stupidity when it presents itself to you. It's why I laughed at the crashed pickup. I think everyone reading this will agree, it was a stupid thing for that pickup driver to do. Frustration is a sign that you want to, but can't, change things that have already happened. Yes, you expect it to continue but that's where you are making your mistake at becoming frustrated. What should you do when you see a pickup truck in a left lane hitting its brakes for no reason other than he is near an exit? Expecting something stupid is the prudent thing. Planning and acting is what to do. Wishing to stop such stupidity is just that: wishful thinking.

Wishing that society will stop oppressing, not only us, but young people that we love is the correct thing to do. Wish. Plan and act if there is an act that will do something about it. Complaining is a good act. Getting frustrated, although a human emotion, only serves to hurt you.

With love,
Gimwinkle
